Medeama chief denies CAF Confederation Cup withdrawal reports

Medeama Chief Executive James Essilfie has rubbished claims they are contemplating pulling out of the CAF Confederation Cup due to the huge cost.

Management member and Accra Representative Edmund Ackah is reported to have revealed that the side was considering pulling the plucks on the involvement due to their huge financial burden which has crippled the team.

However,  Chief Executive James Essilfie,  has denied such reports, insisting his colleague was misquoted.

“I want to place on record that he (Edmund Ackah) was misquoted. There are no such plans of withdrawing from the competition,” Essilfie told GHANAsocernet.com

“I must admit that the huge financial burden is a majo source of worry. But we have never contemplated pulling out of the competition.

“We cannot afford to disappoint Ghanaians and our fans. We’ll participate and ensure we progress into the group phase of the competition.”

Medeama will host Asante Kotoko in an outstanding Ghana Premier League fixture on Thursday.
