Medeama have denied reports they are in talks with a local coach to fill their vacant head coach position.

The Mauves are search of a new substantive coach following the departure of Bashir Hayford mid-way through last season.

Evans Adotey took up the vacant post but on an interim basis until the end of the season which saw Medeama surrender their Premier League title charge close to the season’s end.

The club is now in the market for a new coach but Chief Executive James Essilfie says they are only in talks with a ‘white coach’.

“We are currently in talks with someone to become our head coach but that person is not a local coach,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“It is a white coach and negotiations are far advanced. We hope to conlude talks and make the official announcement very soon.”

Former Berekum Chelsea coach Hans Van der Pluijm is widely reported to be the mysterious ‘white coach’ Medeama are in talks with.

The club saw their Premier League title charge crash towards the end of the season where they finished third.

They have however qualified for their maiden campaign in Africa with their surge to the finals of the FA Cup.

Medeama will be playing in next season’s Confederations Cup with their FA Cup opponent; Asante Kotoko going for the sole Champions League slot by virtue of their Premier League feat.
