Medeama Chief Executive James Essilfie is worried about the poor playing surface in the country.

The hugely respected Medeama chief admits the poor state of the playing surface has largely affected the performance of Premier League teams.

Medeama lost 3-0 at Aduana Stars with the poor pitch playing a key role in the heavy defeat.

Several of the pitches sanctioned to host matches in the Ghanaian top-flight has left much to be desired.

And Medeama chief James Essilfie wants an appraisal of the venues being approved for Premier League games.

"We have to look at the playing surfaces. Some of them are more than rocks," he said

"Some of them are simply not fit to host Premier League matches. Some are hills and valleys.

"It's that simple and we must look at it again going forward.

"We can't allow such venues to host matches. It does not allow for free flow of football, ball control becomes a headache for players.

"For instance, look at the Tarkwa pitch. The pitch is solid and so any team come to our venue, they enjoy playing their normal game.

He added:"This should be replicated in all the match venues."

Medeama take on Inter Allies in an outstanding Premier League fixture on Wednesday.
