The stuttering start of Medeama SC in the Premier League is purely the fault of Coach Bashir Hayford, club director Desmond Frimpong-Manso says.
The pre-season favourites for the league title have lost both of its opening fixtures which now put their title ambitions in great doubt.
Hayford was asked by the club to proceed on a month-long leave following their opening day home loss to Wa All Stars of which Frimpong-Manso has blamed on the poor tactical dispensation of the ex Asante Kotoko coach.
ââ¬ÅThe first game we lost to Wa All Stars was purely the fault of the coach, everyone knows that so we donââ¬â¢t need to be hypocritical,â⬠he told Accra-based Asempa FM.
ââ¬ÅHis selection on the day was very suspect and that is where we realized that perhaps he needs some rest hence the decision to make him proceed on leave because no doubt he is a good coach.ââ¬
Frimpong-Manso however insists the club will halt the downward trend and will start climbing the league log beginning with a weekendââ¬â¢s win against Liberty Professionals at the Essipong Stadium.
ââ¬ÅWe have unfortunately lost our first two games of the season but I am sure starting from this weekendââ¬â¢s game against Liberty, Medeama will start picking the maximum points,â⬠he added.
