Berekum Chelsea are leading the race to sign Medeama striker Louis Agyemang.

The 29-year-old has been with the Mauve and Yellows since 2010 after featuring for giants Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko.

He is said to be looking for a fresh challenge and sees the 2011 Ghana League champions as the ideal choice especially as the Blues prepare for the group phase of the Caf Champions League.

"I have had discussions with Chelsea but for now nothing is confirmed yet," Agyemang said.

"I certainly would like to play for them (Chelsea) especially as they are competing in the Champions League.

"I believe it will offer the kind of challenge I want so we hope things go well in the coming days."

If successful, Agyemang who had stints with Kaizer Chiefs and Etoile du Sahel will become the first post-season signing of Chelsea who surrendered their league title to Asante Kotoko where they finished in seventh place.
