Ghana star midfielder Michael Essien says misfiring AC Milan manager Clarence Seedorf will be a 'super champion coach' despite his apparent under-performance with the Rossoneris.
Milan called the 37-year-old from the pitch to the touchline to manage an ailing Milan side but he has so far failed to turn their season round as they have dropped to a lowly 11th place in the Serie A and have also exited the Uefa Champions League on a humiliating 5-1 aggregate to Atletico Madrid.
Seedorf signed Essien from Chelsea in the January transfer window and has fielded him in 5 games in all competitions since his arrival at the San Siro.
And though Seedorf is still struggling to keep a tattered Milan side together, Essien insists the former Dutch star will mature into a world-class manager.
"I've always liked and admired him as a player. A man who managed to win four Champions League with three different teams means that he has important values. I'm sure he will not take long to become a super champion coach," he told Forza Milan.
Essien is expected to maintain his place in the Milan team when they play against Parma in the Serie A on Sunday.
