Ghana midfielder Michael Essien must pass a late fitness test to make the AC Milan squad to face Juventus in the Serie A top-liner on Saturday.

The 31-year-old has a problem with his left foot and will be examined on Saturday morning to find out if he can be in action for Milan.

Milan manager Filippo Inzaghi is ready to name the former Chelsea star in his midfield should he be declared fit by his team doctors as he seeks to gain from the experience of the former Real Madrid midfielder.

Should he be passed fit, Essien is likely to start the game from the bench while compatriot Sulley Muntari is a sure starter.

The pair, who were both in Ghana's squad for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, will face their Ghana team-mate Kwadwo Asamoah who is also expected to start the game for Juventus at the San Siro.
