Ghana midfielder Michael Essien says he’s operating between 60-70% level after marking his debut for Greek giants Panathinaikos over the weekend.

The 32-year-old played full throttle for the Greens in their 1-0 defeat against Iraklis, four months after the enforcer joined the Greek powerhouse.

The former Chelsea star was left delighted with his return to the pitch but admits he needs more game-time to reach his peak level.

"It was very nice prancing around the field after so long. I will do everything to reach the standard required,’ he told gazzetta.gr

“I am 60-70%, but if I start playing consecutive games, will find the pace I need and everything will be better.”

Essien joined Panathinaikos in the summer after leaving AC Milan but was restricted by recurrent injuries.
