Ghana midfielder Michael Essien says he could have done winning the Africa cup of nations with the Black Stars but admits you can’t win it all.

Essien 32-years-old is one of the most successful African football footballers after glittering stints with English giants Chelsea and Real Madrid.

Despite the solid reputation of being one of the best box to box midfielders of his time, the former Liberty Professionals man failed to endear himself to the Ghanaian football fraternity.

The closest He came to winning the Africa cup of nations was in 2008 where he helped Ghana to a third place finish in a competition held in his native Ghana.

He says he could have done with winning the competition that has eluded his nation in the past 33 years.

“It was a disappointment that we failed to win but that is how football is,” Essien told theguardain.co.uk

“I could have done with winning the Africa cup of nation’s cup but in football you cannot win it all.”
