Ghana international midfielder Michael Essien has resumed full scale training at Panathinaikos and is likely to make his Greek Super League debut after the international break.

The 32-year-old joined his team-mates at training on Monday after being cleared by the Panathinaikos medical team.

Essien suffered a groin injury while training with Panathinaikos weeks after completing his move to the Super League giants and had not featured for the club in their Uefa Champions League and Europa League which they have been eliminated from.

However after returning to training, manager Yannis Anastasiou is likely to hand the former Real Madrid and AC Milan star his debut when the Greek league resumes after the international break.
