Ghanaian midfielder Michael Essien says he is enjoying his loan spell with Real Madrid and being reunited with Jose Mourinho.
The 29-year-old made the surprise move to the Spanish champions at the start of the season after helping Chelsea to win the FA Cup and UEFA Champions League last season and he says heââ¬â¢s adapting to La Liga.
ââ¬ÅThere are no easy games at this level whether in England or Spain,â⬠he said through his official website.
ââ¬ÅAll the games I have played in or watched from the bench in Spain have been tough and I always knew it wonââ¬â¢t be any easier.
ââ¬ÅI hadnââ¬â¢t played for a while before coming to Madrid so I needed more games to get into my rhythm and I am getting there. As long as I keep training hard I will be fine.ââ¬
Apart from battling Barcelona in the domestic league, the Whites are also in search of their tenth Champions League title, and the Essien is hoping it will coincide with his stay.
ââ¬ÅI hope to contribute to that for the success of Real Madrid football club,â⬠he said.
ââ¬ÅApart from that achievement for the team and the city, it will be a special achievement for me to win two Champions League trophies.
ââ¬ÅSo I will work hard and if called upon will contribute to the record breaking tenth Champions League.ââ¬
