Ghana star Michael Essien has revealed he is keen to draw inspiration from the example set by Ghana legend Stephen Appiah in Italy.

The 31-year-old completed his switch from English giants Chelsea to AC Milan on Friday night on free transfer and has been highly tipped for success.

However, despite accepting all the praise about his quality, the former Liberty Professionals star was quick to mention countryman Stephen Appiah as his role model in Italy.

"Stephen Appiah is one of my countrymen who did a great work here and is a respected so much here. But there is only one Essien and with one style," he said.

Stephen Appiah, 33, is one of the decorated African footballers in Italy after winning the SuperCoppa Italia with Juventus and lift the Coppa Italia trophy with Parma in 2002.
