Ghana midfield supremo Michael Essien hails Black Stars emerging talents

Ghana midfielder Michael Essien believes the current crop of youngsters in the team have the credentials to perform on the big stage.

Essien, regarded a veteran of the Black Stars, says the qualities exhibited by the national team youthful players have boosted Ghana’s trophy winning chances.

Striker Abdul Majeed Waris has been in top form in the French Ligue 1 with some eye-catching displays.

Jordan Ayew, 22, is promising prospect after perform for his parent club Marseille and now on loan at Sochaux.

Richmond Boakye-Yiadom has been impressive on loan at Spanish La Liga side Elche.

Winger Christian Atsu is loan at Dutch Eredivisie side Vitesse Arnhem from Chelsea and tagged as a star of the future.

“Very good, talented and hungry as ever. They are always willing to learn which is good and with some luck we will win a tournament soon,” Essien said.

“I am confident the future of Ghanaian football is in good hands with the crop coming through."

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah is expected to name quite a respectable number of youngsters in his final squad for the 2014 World Cup finals.
