Middlesbrough coach Aitor Karanka is refusing to be drawn into the saga of Albert Adomah after the Ghanaian winger slapped in a request to leave the club after falling out with the manager.

Adomah submitted a transfer request on Thursday morning after informing Karank that he wants to leave the club.

The 27-year-old has fallen out with the Spaniard after being left out of the starting line-up in last weekend’s defeat to his former club Bristol City.

Adomah did not feature in the 18-man squad who defeated Burton Albion in the second round of the Capital One Cup on Tuesday after a meeting with club officials the previous day.

But Karanka refused to be drawn on the future of Ghanaian winger Albert Adomah who was omitted from the 18-man squad after rumours of a falling out with the manager.

"It was my decision (to omit him from the squad)," Karanka said.

"He's not injured. I have to select 18 players, and today I thought that the 18 players I selected were the best ones to win the game.

"I prefer to think and to speak about the players who have played today, and to say again how pleased and how proud I am of them."

It is unclear at this stage which clubs may be interested in a player who scored six goals in the Championship last season, although he has been linked with a return to City.
