AshantiGold midfielder Aaron Amoah has savoured his wonder strike in his sides’s 1-1 daw with Medeama on Sunday.

The 18-year-old thrilled the crowd with his fifth goal of the campaign, skipping past two helpless defenders and burying the finish as part of a highly impressive all-round performance.

And though was delighted to have got on the scoresheet, Amoah bemoaned the team’s inability to pick maximum points at home to keep track of leaders Asante Kotoko.

“I got the ball outside the box and just gave it a go, getting past the defenders and shooting at goal. Thankfully for me it got past the keeper and into the back of the net,” he said.

“I was happy with my performance and to score a goal is great, but these are games we need to win.”

The youngster also insists he is only concentrated on helping the Obuasi-based club finish the highest they can despite widespread interests from European clubs.

“Right now that is not important to me. I would love to play at the highest level, but we need to make sure that we hold on to second place in the remaining games.”
