Mighty Jets coach Jonas Amissah insists his team will be challenging for the league title this season.

The comments follows Sunday's impressive showing against Berekum Chelsea in the league opener on Sunday.

It took a late equalizer to deny the Tudu-based club all three points against the star-studded champions and though Amissah expressed disappointment at giving away a late goal, he says the performance of his boys was very good.

“I am very much impressed with what my boys did today,” he exclusively told GHANAsoccernet.com after the game.

“I was disappointed though that we conceded a late goal because I remember telling my boys not to allow in that cross but they failed to do so.

“But on a whole I was very impressed with the performance considering we didn’t play in the G8 Cup or any other pre-season tournament.”

Mighty Jets struggled last season to retain their Premier League status but Amissah wants his team to also be considered as contenders for this season’s league title.

“There is no doubt that in subsequent matches this team will improve and that will put as amongst the teams challenging for the league this season, we are in serious contention for the league trophy,” he added.

Mighty Jets’ next league match will be a short trip to battle giants Hearts of Oak in Accra.
