Mohammed Polo hits back at Hearts boo-boys after Liberty defeat

Hearts coach Mohammed Polo has criticized the club’s fans for booing him during their 3-1 drubbing at Liberty on Sunday.

The scientific soccer lads got back to winning way by crushing their city rivals at the Alhaji Sly Tetteh stadium to enhance their top-four prospect.

Angry Hearts fans poured out their frustration and accused him (Polo) of lacking the credibility to steer the affairs of the club.

The irate fans jeered at him, a reaction that drew the ire of the ex-Ghana international.

“This is football. And the fans don't understand the game. They just criticize without looking at the dynamics of what happened," Polo said.

"The team played really well yesterday and it was unfortunate that we lost. But the fans, who obviously don't know football, will be shouting and screaming.

“They come to the stadium without an idea of what football means and go about just criticizing anything.

"We are playing really well. If you watched the game against Liberty, you will realize that we were just unlucky. With time, this team will prove its worth.

Hearts will next Heart of Lions on Sunday April 6.

I agree with you totally that we have been some how unfair to him. But if you look at the circumstances that lead to his appointment; the sacking of Duncan for no apparent reasons and the way Polo abuses both the fans and players of hearts of oak you will never be happy with him being the coach of hearts of oak. I think its high time he stops talking and concentrate on the job.

Polo is most useless coach in recent generation, not even sure if he is a coach or P.R.O. For hearts

This guy is just too local to be a coach, no good coach responds to fans, because they can make you lose your job, fans dont expect nothing from their team but a win, Polo please lean to shut up.This is not good.

I'm a Kotoko supporter but I feel saddened by the way some guys are treating Polo now. I don't believe any of the so-called boo-boys (supporters of Hearts) know the services Polo has rendered to the team in the past. You guys never heard of the "fearsome five". Hard times happen sometimes, so you've got to look at things in their perspective. Even if he has to learn to coach, he has to start with Hearts because that's the team he died for. Look at Akwasi Appiah, Abdul Razak, Opeele Aboagye, Abdul Karim Zito, Konadu and many great Kotoko players. They all learned their coaching trade with Kotoko (correct me if I'm wrong). None of them had any proper coaching certificate at that time. If a person gives his all to a team, you have to learn to give him something back. But it takes patience. I know he will be a good coach in the future because he knows a lot about football. You guys need to be patient with him. Rome was not built in a day. You all have to accept the fact that this season you ain't gonna win the league cup , and then look forward to and plan for next year. Both Hearts and Kotoko have to come to terms with the fact that, you can't win them all. You win some, you loose some. But for now Polo needs your support. He is a legend. One of the few soccer legends still alive in Ghana today- Osei Kofi, Abdul Razak, Abedi Pele, Kuuku Dadzie, Mohammed Polo and Stephen Appiah- legends in their day. I'm done, thank you.
