Mohammed thrilled at Rayo Vallecano switch

Ghana midfielder Mohammed Abu has spoken of his delight at joining Spanish side Rayo Vallecano on a one-year loan.

The Ghanaian international, who enoyed a terrific season on loan at Norwegian outfit Strongodest last term, completed his switch move to the Madrid-based side on Thursday.

After taking part in his first training session at the Sports City, he revealed he’s relishing a new challenge.

Th 20-year-old told a press conference today: "In the Spanish League and English, any player would like to play. Since childhood I have followed and I am happy to come to Ray.

“My favorite player is Xabi Alonso League and team Barcelona,”

He continued: "I had offers from Belgium and Scotland, and in the end I preferred to come to Spain. Rayo seems a good team, a good city to Madrid live Spanish football and the best in the world.

“Rayo seems a good team and Madrid a good city to live,”

"I followed the start of the team while doing the preseason with Manchester and has been very good start.'m Very happy to be in the Ray and I will try to give my best."

Vallecano are currently third on the league table after picking maximum points from their opening two La Liga games.

Abu could make his debut against Sevilla on Sunday.
