Coach Garry Monk has no doubt Andre Ayew, Swansea players are by his side

Garry Monk remains convinced that his playmaker Andre Ayew and the Swansea City squad continue to play for him. The Swans boss remains under fire following Sunday's 1-0 loss to Liverpool at Anfield which saw the Welsh club drop to 15th on the Premier League table.

Despite the poor run of results of late, Monk insists there is plenty of confidence within the Swans group and feels that a positive streak is just around the corner for the men from the Liberty Stadium.

"It's clear all through this period - it's never ever been a doubt. Anyone who suggests that would be very stupid. A stupid person," he said.

"Of course we have to get points on the board very quickly - I understand that. But if we perform like that, long spells of possession and that work ethic, we'll always have great confidence.

"I never doubt these players - how good they are. You go through a difficult period - and it's a very short period in my time here. It was a complete performance - the players deserved much more than that.

"The result was taking out of our hands - we couldn't control that [penalty] decision. The performance was perfect.

"There's never any danger of that team being in a relegation fight."
