MontBlanc luxury watches to be launched to support Essien Foundation

Ghana and Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien will join a host of other stars including Prince Albert, Prince of Monaco to unveil a MontBlanc watch for the Michael Essien Foundation on June 13 in Spain.

Part of the proceeds from the sale of the watches are expected to fund activities of the foundation.

A statement on the website of the Ghanaian international said “We are delighted MontBlanc are supporting the Michael Essien Foundation with the creation of these beautiful time pieces.

"The funds raised will be a welcome benefit to the people of Awutu who are and will continue to benefit from the Foundation.

“We are extemely honoured that Prince Albert will be attending the function. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity and we are truly grateful for his presence” the statement said.

A spokesperson from the Principality of Monaco, who is part of the organising committee stated that there were limited edition with only 15 pieces of the watch created by MontBlanc.

He added that “This beautiful watch has been crafted for the high end of the market and each one is priced at 17,000 Euros”.

“We will donate one to the Prince for being our guest and for spending his time with us and once the rest are sold half of the proceeds will go to the Michael Essien Foundation for the medical and vocational projects they have underway in Ghana” the spokesperson added.

The luxurious watch is made of pink gold and tantalum with rubber bracelet and will have the Michael Essien Foundation logo and MontBlanc enbossed on it.
