Montolivo: We’re ready for the AC Milan fans to return

Published on: 06 February 2016

AC Milan captain Riccardo Montolivo has insisted it would be wrong for his team to follow the Serie A table following their recent run of form.

The Rossoneri welcome 14th-placed Udinese to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Sunday afternoon and the midfielder emphasised the importance of approaching the season one game at a time.

“We are ready to handle the pressure,” Montolivo told reporters at the pre-match press conference.

“It is wrong to look at the table as we have to focus all our energy on tomorrow’s match.

“We’ve had a good run but we can always do better.”

The Milan fans have been starved of reasons to celebrate in recent seasons, however the captain hopes their victories of late will once again fill the stadium.

“We’ve lived some magical nights like the derby,” Montolivo continued. “Perhaps this is something that hasn’t happened since the 2-0 win at home over Barcelona [in 2013].

“The team is ready to bring the fans back to the stadium.”
