Mourinho's move to England forced Essien's Chelsea return
Michael Essien's return to Chelsea has been boosted by Jose Mourinho's imminent return.

Jose Mourinho's decision to leave Spanish giants Real Madrid looks to be behind Michael Essien's desire to return to Chelsea.

The Ghana international has confirmed that he will return to his club when his loan deal with Los Blancos expires at the end of the season even though Madrid were keen on his stay.

This has coincided with Mourinho's astonishing revelation that he is most likely to return to England stating his utmost love for Chelsea.

Mourinho virtually saved Essien's career after the midfielder faced a torrid time at Chelsea where he was rotting on the bench under coach Robeto Di Matteo.

The Portuguese coach agreed to take Essien on loan as the Ghana international reunited with the ex-Chelsea boss Mourinho, who he affectionately refers to as daddy.

The Portuguese trainer knew about Essien qualities and handed him more game time in the Spanish La Liga which and if Mourinho return to Chelsea the Ghanaian midfielder would be guaranteed more playing time.

Mourinho or no Mourinho, bringing back Essien just makes far too much sense to ignore.

He's nowhere near the player he was when he first came to Chelsea under "daddy", but he's still an excellent player that would provide valuable depth and experience.

Essien wouldn't add any sort of dynamic passer to the Chelsea midfield, but he does still offer a solid, well-rounded game while making basically no mental errors.
