Asante Kotoko head coach David Duncan is in battle for the MTN FA Cup best coach for the 2014/15 season with Medeama head coach Tom Strand after seeing the team to the finals.

The former Hearts of Oak manager guided the Porcupine Warriors to the finals of the competition after a tough season in the just ended First Capital Plus Premier League.

Duncan masterminded Kotoko's smooth qualification to the finals of the competition after recording an unbeaten run seeing off opposition from fellow premier league sides Aduana Stars and AsahantiGold SC in the semi final and quarter final matches respectively.

The Oseikrom lads scored 15 goals and conceded only one on their way to the final but succumbed to the Tarkwa based side by 2-1 in the final clash.

Tom Strand on the other hand engineered the trophy winning strategy for the miners after they had a successful journey through to the semi finals winning three of their matches in regulation time and the other two through penalty shootouts.

The Swedish manager plotted the downfall of the reds at the Essipong Stadium beating them by 2-1 in the finals to annex the trophy.

The two are strongly battling each other for the coach of the season after being nominated by the MTN FA Cup Committee.

Duncan's predecessor, Didi Dramani, won the title last season and the former Hearts manager will be honoured to have followed the footsteps of his predecessor on September 25.
