Ex Ghana striker Ibrahim Tanko says it is much tougher being a coach than being a player with the ever increasing demands of the modern game.

The 37-year-old is currently working as an assistant coach of Cameroon under his German mentor Volker Finke.

The ex Borussia Dortmund striker was limited to only 10 appearances for the Black Stars due to his persistent problems with injury despite his fairly fruitful club career.

Tanko however believes the demands of being a coach is much heftier than when playing actively.

“Being a coach is more difficult than being a player,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“As a player your concentration is to train and play games but a coach has to prepare for training and after training and also do same for matches.

“There is also so much pressure on a coach to perform.

“Players can have a good or a bad day and that is normal but then a coach cannot afford to have a bad day.”

GHANAsoccernet.com will soon bring you the full interview with Tanko Ibrahim.
