Ghana open their campaign against minnows Botswana before playing neighbours Mali and Guinea in Group D for the biannual showpiece.
The Group could be tricky for the 2010 Fifa World Cup quarter-finalists considering the pedigrees of their opponents.
The Inter Milan star man, who will is expected to feature prominently in Goran Stevanovicââ¬â¢s squad at the tournament, remains adamant about the countryââ¬â¢s chances.
"With our pedigree on the continent, surely a lot will be expected of us in the tournament. I have said before that weââ¬â¢re determined to go a step further in 2012," Muntari said
"We respect our opponents in the group but the truth of the matter is that weââ¬â¢re also going to guard against complacency and tackle each game with total seriousness.
"We have a fantastic manager and a great team which is very compact and so weââ¬â¢ll do our best. I believe weââ¬â¢re capable of writing our names in the history books."
Ghana were losing finalists at the 2010 Africa Cup Nations in Angola.
