Muntari facing Italian FA punishment

AC Milan midfielder Sulley Muntari is to be investigated over violent incidents during Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Juventus, the Italian Football Federation announced on Monday.

The organisation's disciplinary committee will assess video footage of the match, which left defending champions Milan a point clear of Juve at the Serie A summit, having played a game more.

The Ghanaian international who was denied a goal in the encounter is accused of violently shoving Stephan Lichtsteiner.

Also to be investigated is centre-back Mexes who punched former Roma colleague Marco Borriello while old boy Pirlo has also been accused of elbowing Mark van Bommel.

Juve finished the match at San Siro with 10 men after Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal was shown a late red card for a challenge from behind on Dutch enforcer van Bommel.
