Muntari unavailable for Sunderland as Chelsea target revenge

Sunderland’s new signing Sulley Muntari will not be available on Tuesday as they face Chelsea in the Premier League.

This comes as Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti aiming to avenge his greatest Chelsea humiliation with three points at Sunderland.

Muntari has returned to Italy to complete some paperwork and also move his belongings to England.

But his compatriots Asamoah Gyan and John Mensah will be available for the game at the Stadium of Light.

Ancelotti is still smarting from the shock 3-0 home defeat by Steve Bruce's team in November.

And he is desperate to extend his side's recent unbeaten run as the champions look to edge their way back into the title race.

John Terry, Frank Lampard and Michael Essien were all missing when Asamoah Gyan and his Black Cats pals ran riot to knock Chelsea off the top of the table.

But the Londoners will be at full strength tonight, with Ancelotti sticking to the team which drew at Everton in the FA Cup at the weekend.

He said: "We have no new injury problems and all the players are in good condition after Everton.

"I don't expect to be making many changes. The players have recovered well and are in a good run of form.

"Sunderland are a dangerous team, especially because they are playing at home. But I think they will find a much different Chelsea to the one they played at Stamford Bridge earlier in the season.

"We are over the bad moment which affected us before Christmas. But we still need to be at our very best. It is not going to be easy to play at Sunderland."

Ancelotti's decision to stick with an unchanged team means Salomon Kalou is likely to be back on the bench, despite coming on to score Chelsea's equaliser in the 1-1 Cup draw at Goodison.

But the Ivory Coast ace is keen to make an impression again after Fernando Torres' British record move to Stamford Bridge.
