Muntari's agent reveals his client is angry over slow crawl to recovery

Sulley Muntari is frustrated with his latest injury and fears he could miss the African Cup of Nations next year, his agent has revealed.

The Ghana star has not played for AC Milan since he suffered a serious knee injury in June.

The 28-year-old was billed to return to the pitch early November but suffered an obstacle after he hurt himself at Milan’s training grounds.

The former Sunderland and Udinese man is now set to recover fully by the end of December.

With Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah set to name a provisional 25-man squad for the Cup of Nations before Christmas, there are fears his name could be ommitted.

The players’ agent Federico Pastorello has revealed his client is growing overly apprehensive over his inability to help his troubled AC Milan team while fearing he could miss the boat to South Africa.

“Sulley is clearly disappointed, he worked hard to get back to fitness and was under the illusion that he could play again,” Pastorello said

“He is very angry because he wanted to help the team.

“It looked like he has moved on from the injury. We were deceived by the fact that he could return earlier than planned.

“Then there was the unexpected injury which delayed his return to 2-3 weeks.

“This period I believe, would be enough to see him back in action after the medical staff's assessment.

He added: “We hoped he could recover in a short period but the new period for recovering is till the end of December and we hope it remains so.”

Muntari joins a list of Ghanaians players who sweating to be fully fit for the continental showpiece.

Defender John Boye has been ruled out action for an unspecified number of weeks with a thigh problem while Isaac Vorsah and Jonathan Mensah recently recovered from a set-back.

There are also concerns about Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu.

The Black Stars will battle less fancied Niger and old foes DR Congo and Mali in pool B.
