Muriel: Sampdoria’s defeat against Bologna was unfair

Sampdoria striker Luis Muriel says that the club’s 3-2 defeat against Bologna on Sunday was an unfair result.

Goals from Anthony Mounier and Godfred Donsah put the Rossoblu 2-0 up but goals from Muriel and then Joaquin Correa drew the visitors level. However, a penalty two minutes from time from Mattia Destro gave Bologna the three points which Muriel says they didn’t deserve.

“What we did in the first 45 minutes is one to forget,” Muriel told TV Samp.

“In the second half we played very well, Bologna didn’t deserve win this game.”

Sunday’s loss meant that Sampdoria have now lost four matches in a row, but Muriel says that debatable refereeing decisions only aided their slide towards the relegation zone.

“There were two decisive decisions and both went against us,” he continued.

“The first was not sending Gastaldello off for a foul on me, and the second is giving the penalty kick which frankly I have still not figured out how.

“Now we need to win.”

Sampdoria next play Torino during Serie A’s round of midweek fixtures.
