NAC Breda manager Stijn Vreven will not rush Ghana’s Thomas Agyepong to play

NAC Breda head coach Stijn Vreven has revealed that Ghana winger Thomas Agyepong is gradually picking up his fitness and will not be rushed into playing full games.

Vreven insists that the winger need to gradually work himself into playing full time matches for his side despite the fact that his absence is worrying.

He has, however, hinted that Agyepong could start on Sunday against Excelsior and could finish the game if he starts.

“We have outlined a range of games – first, 45 minutes and then 60 minutes. Then we look further.

“He wants to keep that track and not fall back to be important to the team in the remainder of the competition.

“Thomas does not want to skip any more steps. I agreed with that. He has now played a half against Young Roda JC (January 29) and more than an hour against Young NEC (February 6).

Heracles came too early, but who knows Agyepong will be fit enough for Excelsior on Sunday,” Vreven told the Dutch press ahead of their weekend clash with Excelsior.

The Ghana midfielder was ruled out of action for between six to eight weeks, ruling him out of his country’s World Cup qualifier against Uganda in Octorber last year.

Agyepong suffered an injury while playing for his Dutch side NAC Breda in their FA Cup match against Achilles'29 over the weekend.

He underwent an MRI test to determine the extent of injury and it was established that he has injury to the outer head of his hamstring.
