Ghanaian Nana AKwasi Asare helped Dutch side FC Utrecht take a first leg advantage in the third qualifying round of the Europa League by nicking a 1-0 over FC Lucerne on Thursday night.

The left-back played full throttle at the Galgenwaard stadium and was shown the yellow card in the 88th minute.

Dries Mertens 35th minute goal in the match handed the home side the initiate in the first leg with the away fixture yet to be concluded.

"We were good at 1-0 and have had chances to make it 2-0 even in injury time," Utretcht coach Ton Du Chatenier said during the press conference. And on the return:" They must and we will get opportunities. It will be an open game."
