Kalidou Koulibaly was forced to pay Senegal’s entire £20,000 hotel bill during a recent stay in London, according to reports in his homeland.

Senegal were in England for a friendly against Nigeria, which took place at The Hive Stadium in Barnet on March 23.

And L’Observateur report that they were on the verge of being thrown out for failure to pay up as the African country’s FA finds itself in dire financial difficulties.

However, they were bailed out by one of their biggest stars.

Koulibaly — along with agent, Djily Djeng — coughed up the five-figure sum to avoid the embarrassment of being thrown out.

The Napoli defender and Sadio Mane are Senegal’s main stars.

And Koulibaly was the subject of a £60million summer bid from Chelsea — and Antonio Conte is expected to return with another offer as he looks to strengthen his defence.

The friendly at the Hive Stadium finished 1-1 in 2,013 fans..

Manchester City's Kelechi Iheanacho scored a late equaliser for Nigeria after Moussa Sow had earlier opened the scoring.

Arsenal's Alex Iwobi started the match, but Mane only made a late substitute appearance.

Senegal need a quick turnaround in their qualifying their campaign as they look to reach the World Cup in Russia — and now face a double header against group leaders, Burkina Faso.

Failure to make the finals would only deepen the country's financial crisis.
