Napoli to sign Atalanta midfielder ahead of Fiorentina and AC Milan

Napoli are reportedly set to conclude their search for a midfielder as they are closing in on the talented Atalanta youngster Alberto Grassi.

The Stadio San Paolo side have eyed the 20-year-old playmaker as the ideal addition to strengthen their midfield, after chances of signing Bayer Leverkusen’s Christoph Kramer have gradually reduced.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the Azzurri have landed a €8.5 million bid plus €1.5m in bonuses in order to ward off competitors also keen on the player, such as Fiorentina and AC Milan, with the Viola extremely unlikely to raise their previous offer.

Grassi, who made his debut back in November 2014 under Stefano Colantuono, has been impressing the interested parties during the 2015-16 season, starting 13 Serie A games for Edy Reja’s side.

The Italy Under-21 international would join the Partenopei as backup to Jorginho, in an attempt to strengthen the squad’s depth as Napoli challenge for the Scudetto.
