Algeria midfielder Adlene Guedioura Adlane believes the Les Fennecs can win next year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.

The Watford player has been named in a seven-man standby list which was released on 15 December by head coach Christian Gourcuff.

But the 29-year-old has confidence in the select band of players and believes they have the credentials to be African champions only for the second time.

“It could be a huge African Nations Cup for Algeria,” Guedioura said.

“I think we are one of the best teams in Africa. We did well in the World Cup and have kept winning. We have great young talented players with a good future and they mix with the experienced players.

“So hopefully we can win the competition. We have had a difficult group but if you want to win you have to beat the best teams.”

Algeria made it into the last 16 of the 2014 FIFA World Cup – without Guedioura – and will face Ghana, Senegal and South Africa in Group C.
