Neil Amstrong confirms run at Ghana FA presidency

Neil Armstrong-Mortagbe, President of Krypton Global Limited, a sports marketing and management consultancy firm has launched his campaign for the presidency of the Ghana Football Association.

The 41-year old becomes the first person to officially declare his candidacy to contest incumbent Kwesi Nyantakyi for the April 28 election.

Armstrong-Mortagbe, who doubles as a FIFA Administrative Instructor and Treasurer of the Ghana League Clubs Association, (GHALCA) announced his candidature at a media briefing on Thursday where he announced his vision of transforming Ghana football into one of the most attractive and sought after Football Brands in the World.

With a mission statement of working hard to effectively and comprehensively develop Ghana football at every level and in all aspect, the one-time Chairman of the National Chapters Committee (NCC) of Accra Hearts of Oak outlined his policy direction for his first term if given the mandate to steer the affairs of Ghana football.

Touching on a wide range of topics ranging from National teams, Club support programs, infrastructure enhancement, player welfare and talent development, marketing and sponsorship, women's football, finance, administration, Information Communication Technology, Media, Juvenile Football, Refereeing, Coaching to Medical; he pointed out that he is more than qualified to head the country's football governing body.

"My GFA will focus on performance, transparency and respect for all," he noted.

Armstrong-Mortagbe explained that he has been integral in the current financial windfall into Ghana football from Goldfields Ghana Limited's sponsorship of the Black Stars, media rights of the Premier League and Polytank sponsorship for the Division One League amongst others.

On his eligibility, he announced that he will step down as the GHALCA Treasurer within the next 48 hours before filing his nomination within the March 21 to March 25 timeline.

Flanked by Ex-Black Star players, Ibrahim Sunday and Willie Klutse, Armstrong-Mortagbe added that he has the support of the masses' and is capable of convincing the 123 delegates to vote him into the most sought after seat in Ghana football.

He remains the only person to have declared to contest Nyantakyi, despite an unofficial interest from King Faisal Chief Executive, Vincent Sowah Odotei.

The tenure of Nyantakyi who was recently elected unto the CAF Executive Committee ends in April this year.
