Striker David Accam says the experience garnered from Ghana’s 2015 Africa Cup of Nations campaign will help him thrive at his new club Chicago Fire.

The 24-year-old is chasing his MLS debut on Saturday when Fire face LA Galaxy.

Accam played on two minutes for Ghana at the Nations Cup when he came on late in the opening 2-1 defeat to Senegal.

He believes the experience from his trip to Equatorial Guinea could impact positively in his season.

“The Afcon helped me in many ways even though I didn't play much,” he went on, “and now it feels good to be with my team,” the former Right to Dream player told Goal.com

“Our targets this season are to get into the playoffs and hopefully go all out to win the league title.”

Accam left Swedish side Helsingborg in December after a successful season where he scored 17 goals in 25 league matches.
