New Edubiase beat Medeama at the death

A superb last gasp lob from Bernard Ofori helped New Edubiase United to a hard won 1-0 victory over Medeama SC at the Gyamfi's Park on Saturday.

Edubiase struggled upfront without top scorer Emmanuel Baffour who is on international duty with the Black Stars but Bernard Ofori emerged the hero of the afternoon with a classy stoppage time finish.

The best chance of the half came the way of midfielder Asiedu Attobrah on the 21 minutes but the promising starlet shot his effort across the face of goal.

Alhaji Nurudeen failed to put the visitors ahead with a one-on-one situation on the half mark before Hans Kwoffie skied a close range opportunity.

Edubiase proved they can do little with the absence of striker Emmanuel Baffour who has scored 11 out of the 13 games scored by the club so far.

Ibrahim Moro, skipper Mumuni Abubakar and Asiedu Attobrah could all be blamed for fine opportunities wasted.

Medeama however did little to test Eric Nii Baah in goal for Edubiase in the first department.

There was urgency in Edubiase's play after the interval, playing with a sort of unified purpose. Striker Stephen Manu tried his luck with a long range but which Muntari Tagoe needed basic goalkeeper skill to deal with it.

Emmanuel Otoo blasted an effort wide after receiving a low cross from Black Meteors' midfielder Richard Mpong.

Bernard Ofori twice called Medeama goalkeeper Muntari Tagoe to duty and he proved equal to the task.

Ofori fired a thunderous left-footed drive from 35 yards which Tagoe palmed away.

The goalkeeper then made a diving save to deny Edubiase their breakthrough.

Medeama though had been hoping for the maximum looked content with a draw but Ofori made something out of nothing to score the solitary goal of the game for with seconds left for play.
