New Edubiase United president Abdul Salam Yakubu has been honoured by the New Edubiase Traditional Council for using football to help the community.

Paramount Chief Nana Asiamah Oguoshia Ababio II heaped praise on the young football administrator for playing a role in their development.

Nana Ababio II tasked him continue investing and help the youth in the Adansi community.

Two separate chiefs made donations of US$ 2,000 and 2,000 pounds sterling to the club.

"I have accepted the responsibility and this gesture has rekindled my interest if it was dying to do more for football," Yakubu said.

"I have worked hard with my management members and I can't take this alone but with them and the players too.

"We have a big plan for the team and we hope Allah can guide us to achieve our targets."

Yakubu formed the team from the second-tier league four years ago and guided them to the Ghana top-flight.

They since not looked back and produced some of the finest young talents for the country including last season's Ghana Premier League top scorer Emmanuel Baffour.

Yakubu was supported by other management members of the club as they presented the 2012 MTN FA Cup trophy they won to the traditional ruler.

New Edubiase United will represent Ghana in the 2013 CAF Confederation Cup.
