Avram Grant has been charged to help build local coaching capacity as part of his job as head coach of Ghana.

The former Chelsea manager has signed a 27-month contract with the Ghana FA to become the substantive replacement for Kwesi Appiah.

Grant’s immediate task will be to ‘do well’ with the Black Stars at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations which kicks off in barely a months’ time in Equatorial Guinea.

But the 59-year-old has a wider responsibility over the other national teams and will also hold seminars to improve the knowledge of local coaches.

“He has a 27-month contract with the Ghana Football Association,” GFA Vice President Fred Crentsil revealed.

“Some of the things stated in his contract is to provide technical support to all the national teams.

“He will be based in Ghana.

“And while he will be providing technical assistance to all the national teams, he will be hosting refresher courses for our coaches.”
