Uganda do not host Ghana until November 15 after the two back-to-back 2015 Nations Cup qualifiers against Togo.
Yet events in the four-time African champions backyard cannot pass without notice as they somewhat rub off Group E, which includes the Black Stars, Cranes, Togo and Guinea – Uganda’s last victims of a 2-0 defeat at Namboole.
Both Uganda and Ghana are level on four points after two games; yet – while the table leadership by the Cranes, thanks to a one-goal advantage, is being praised as a great step toward achieving qualification, Kwesi Appiah is losing his job as Black Stars coach.
Appiah’s sacking was confirmed on Friday with Milovan Rajevac – who arrived in Ghana last week to finalise talks with the country’s FA – due to replace him.
Rajevac was Black Stars coach between 2009 and 2010, when he unceremoniously left the team after their quarterfinal berth at the South Africa World Cup. But Micho says he will not change the approach towards the team Uganda drew with in Kumasi.
“The appointment of Rajevac will not change the way we look at Ghana,†Micho told Daily Monitor yesterday.
According to Micho what the Cranes might not have in stars who play in top European leagues, they have in motivation.
“My players want to prove on the field of play that we can compete,†he said.
