C.K Akunnor is relishing a tough league encounter with Liberty Professionals in his first game in charge as coach of Hearts of Oak.

The ex Black Stars captain replaced Serbian Nebojsa Vucicevic who was sacked after a string of poor results after signing a two-year deal with the Phobians on Monday.

The 38-year-old presided over his first training session on Thursday ahead of Sunday’s league clash with town rivals Liberty Professionals to whom they lost 2-0 in the first round encounter.

The former XI Wise coach despite staying positive on his new side’s prospects admits it will be very tough to get one over a Liberty side being coached by veteran J.E Sarpong.

“The team looks well prepared for Sunday’s game against Liberty but I know it won’t be easy at all,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“They (Liberty) are a very good team coached by a very experienced coach (Sarpong) so it will be very tough.

“But I believe my team has the needed quality and hopefully we will get a win against Liberty on Sunday.”

Hearts are second in the Ghanaian topflight - a staggering nine-point adrift rivals Asante Kotoko who are in pole position to win their 21st Premier League title with ten matches to go.
