English side Newcastle United are hoping to seal a move for Ghana winger Andre Ayew before the close of the transfer window Saturday.

The Magpies Chief Scout Joe Kinnear was in the stands at the Stade du Hainaut in Valenciennes to watch the 23-year-old in action for Marseille last weekend and has recommended him to boss Alan Pardew.

Newcastle have held initial talks with Marseille over Ayew as they hope to convince Marseille to allow the Ghana international move to England.

Marseille's stance on the Ghana international has been clear as they have said in the past that their steamroller would not be sold below 15 million Euros.

Newcastle are impressed with Ayew's relentlessness and are ready to splash the cash to sign the influential winger who is capped 44 times by Ghana and netted 10 Ligue 1 goals for Les Olympians last season.
