Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez hopes to rely on in-form Ghana winger Christian Atsu ahead of their 're-loaded' Championship clash against Preston North End on Saturday.

The 24-year-old was instrumental for the Magpies in their 6-0 demolition of the Lancashire side in the EFL Cup on Tuesday.

The two sides go at each other again at the Deepdale Stadium with Preston North End expected to avenge the heavy defeat.

“I’m really pleased to see Mitrovic, Diame, (Christian) Atsu, or even (DeAndre) Yedlin. There were a lot of positives.”Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez said after their heavy win over their opponent in the EFL Cup.

Astu, on loan from Premier League side Chelsea, will be expected to spark again for the Toons ahead of their trip to Preston on Saturday.
