AC Milan starlet M’Baye Niang has thanked boss Sinisa Mihajlovic for giving him confidence and is ‘glad’ that he turned down the opportunity to depart from the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza outfit to Premier League leaders Leicester City.

With speculation rife that Niang would leave the Rossoneri following a four-month-long injury lay-off, the 21-year-old claims it was the coach’s confidence that helped him excel in the 3-0 win over city rivals Inter, in which he found himself on the scoresheet.

“We are all very happy, we lost the reverse fixture and we wanted to win,” he told Premium Sport.

“It was important for us, for the table, for the fans and the club. We won 3-0 and we are very happy.

“Since the beginning of the season, we said we wanted to qualify for Europe and we showed that we are a good side. If we continue like this I think we will be satisfied at the end of the season.

“Only the press thought that I would not have played in this derby, but I was sure I would play. I am made of goals and I’m glad I stayed here.

“The coach has confidence in me, gave me after 4 months of injury and if you are here to celebrate, I have to thank him for giving me this opportunity.

“I have to thank him for giving me this opportunity. We have always been on his side, he makes us work hard and in the end, the results arrive.”
