Nigerian Premier League: Armed robbers attack Giwa FC

Giwa FC players were attacked at 9th Mile around Enugu Tuesday on their way to Umuahia to honour a Nigeria league Week 21 game against Abia Warriors.

Giwa FC team official Sammy Adesoji told AfricanFootball.com the players, who were in their bus were attacked and lost their mobile phones and cash to the hoodlums.

"Our players were attacked by armed robbers at 9th mile. We thank God no life was lost,” Adesoji reported.

“They were ahead of us, they continued the journey with escort given to the by soldiers on the road after they explained what happened to them."

Earlier this season, champions Kano Pillars were also attacked by robbers and several of their players were injured in the process.
