Niger's Ghana-born defender Dankwah vows to stop Black Stars today

Niger's Ghana-born defender Kofi Dankwah has warned the Black Stars that he will score against them when the two countries clash at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations on Monday.

Dankwah, who was born and raised in Ghana to Ghanaian parents, opted to play for Niger after a botched move to France.

He played in the country's local league before he was called up to play in the Nigerien national team in 2010.

Dankwah played youth football together with Asamoah Gyan and Richard Kissi Boateng who are currently part of the Black Stars squad in the tournament.

The Tunisia-based defender has stated his willingness to score against the Black Stars of Ghana today if he gets the chance.

“I am a Ghanaian, but a naturalised Nigerien. I am looking forward to have a good game, if I get the chance I will not hesitate to score against my real country,” he told Accra-based Asempa FM.

“Majority of the Ghanaian players are my close friends, almost eight of them, we talk every day, yesterday even I had a call from Asamoah Gyan and we talked about the game.”

“I played for the Ghana Under-20 but naturalised for Niger after I went there in an effort to go and play in France. I am a product of Pope John's Secondary School and I stay in Dansoman.”

Dankwah who plays for Esperance Zarzis in Tunisia has been one of the key men on the rear for the Mena since 2010.
