Premier League club Norwich City signed Norway midfielder Alexander Tettey from French side Rennes for an undisclosed fee on Friday.

Tettey agreed a two-year contract with an option for a further year and will complete his move to England subject to international clearance.

The 26-year-old, who spent three years in Ligue 1 with Rennes, becomes Norwich manager Chris Hughton’s seventh signing and will be watching from the stands on Saturday when his new club face QPR at Carrow Road.

Hughton told Norwich’s website: “I’m delighted to have Alexander on board and I firmly believe he will be a valuable asset for us.

“He’s a very good player with international experience, and he’s at a good age for us.”

Tettey, who has Champions League experience with Rosenborg, was born in Ghana, but he is a naturalised citizen of Norway and has won 14 caps for his adopted country.
