Nwankwo Kanu calls for less patronage of foreign leagues to improve spectatorship

Nigeria soccer legend Nwankwo Kanu has called on Ghanaians to reduce their patronage of foreign leagues in other to give attention to our local league to increase spectatorship.

The Communications Director of the Ghana FA had earlier called on government to issue a legislation that will bar free to air television from telecasting live European matches and the Nigerian international seem to have been in tandem with the Ghana spokesperson.

In an interview, Nkwankwo Kanu also called on the appropriate authorities to put proper measures in place to ensure patronage of the local league.

"You know the problem we have in Africa is that we watch too much of the European leagues. The La Liga, Premiership, Bundesliga and the French Ligue 1 have all taken our attention. Everyone is keen on watching these league".

"Their organization and arrangements is far ahead of ours and if we want to reach where they are, it took them years to get to get there. So if we want to reach where they are we have to make sure we can organise it good and put together measures to attract people to come and watch the game".
