Ex- Ghana FA boss Nyaho Tamakloe wants the federation to stop the ‘chase’ of Danny Welbeck after he made his first senior appearance for England on Tuesday.

The Manchester United striker opted to join the Three Lions just 24 hours after been handed a call-up to play against Ghana in a friendly despite numerous overtures from the Ghana FA to switch nationality.

The 20-year-old who is still eligible to play for the West African country told reporters after the Ghana-England game he could still snub the European side to play for the Black Stars.

But the former FA boss insists the GFA must cease to lure him to play for the national team.

"We have many talented players and don’t see why we should be chasing him to play for the Black Stars. They should not pursue that agenda any longer and give chances to the young ones," Tamakloe told Citi FM

"The likes of Dede, Kwadwo Asamoah, Adiyiah and others are still around and playing actively. We should rather concentrate on them. Welbeck should the one chasing the FA to play for Ghana. We’re worth more than that."

The Sunderland attacker was to born to Ghanaian parents but raised in England.
