Oman call up four new players for AFC Beach Soccer C'ship 2017

Muscat: Oman coach Talib Hilal Al Thanawi has called up four new players to the national team as the Sultanate prepare to defend their AFC Beach Soccer Championship title in the 2017 edition set to be held in Malaysia.

The Omanis, who beat Japan 3-2 on penalties following a 1-1 stalemate after extra time to win their first championship in Qatar 2015, have enlisted Mohammed Al Siyabi, Awadh Al Yousefi, Nibras Al Sabri and Hussain Al Ajmi, the Oman Football Association’s website has announced.

Al Thanawi’s side are currently undergoing a training camp that will last until January 14 and will learn their opponents in this year’s edition during an official draw on Tuesday.

The competition serves as the qualifiers for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Bahamas 2017 and the the top-three finishers will represent Asia at the global extravaganza.
